This week The PMO Podcast™ Featured Story presents, "An Introduction for Executives to the Project Management Body of Knowledge," presented by Mark Perry (about Mark), host of The PMO Podcast™. If you are a project management professional, then you of course know all about the Project Management Body of Knowledge, the PMBOK. But what about all of the other non-project management professionals and executives in your organization? Would you be surprised if I told you that in a survey of 50 non-IT C level executives, only three knew about the Project Management Body of Knowledge? Sometimes we take for granted that what we know is common knowledge. So, today, the purpose of the PMO podcast featured story is to provide a brief, introduction for executives, to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, the PMBOK Guide®. And for those of you that are experts in the PMBOK, you might find this brief introduction to be an enjoyable listen as well.
The PMO Podcast™ Points Memo suggests, “If you are not sure, then ask!" As is so often the case, success project managers and project participants don’t wait to be asked their opinions, rather the proactively raise issues and offer possible remedies. In any event, questions and concerns about the project are not criticisms of the plan or the people who prepared the plan, rather they are they way project team members communicate, gain insight and understanding about the project, and share and benefit from each other’s, potentially differing, perspectives. So, as a general project management rule of thumb, if you are not sure, then ask.
The PMO Podcast™ Mailbag answers a listener question about resource leveling.
